How to create a New Moon Ritual

At each new moon , we can plant seeds for what we want to grow over the next 30 days. It can be literal “seeds” in terms of initiating new activities , meetings , joining a gym, organising importing events or enrolling in a course . Or it can be  symbolic ” seeds” , be creating rituals that help to ground our intentions. Through rituals we bring alive the magic forces that help create our intentions and heart desires.

Every New moon that comes around I use it as a checkpoint for my life, an opportunity to think of my hearts desires and as a self-examination of what I want to change and improve within, and around myself. Its like I get to re write a self “to do list”, it’s a mental, emotional and spiritual clean slate.

So new moons are all about

  • New beginnings
  • New Adventures
  • New Endeavor
  • New relationships
  • Positive changes
  • Optimism Hope and Faith

The New Moon is the perfect time to manifest what you wish to have in your life. It is a wonderful time to introduce new beginnings, projects and desires you wish for.

Setting your New Moon Intentions in Motion

I always begin by setting aside some time by myself at night, as its best done closer to when the moon’s power is full force. Don’t stress if this is not an option…  you can also do this in the morning, take yourself on a coffee date before work (I swear its written in a scared journal that this ritual is best done with the magic power of a coffee and melting moment cookie and if not I think it’s a new tradition that ill be passing on to anyone that will believe me).

Supplies you Need:

  • Notebook
  • Pen and coloured felt tip pens (For doodling and drawing magic unicorns and your new dream swim wear)
  • Your imagination

Optional supplies (That you would find at my New moon ritual)

  • Yummy scented Candle or incense burner, with lavender or peppermint to awaken the third eye and crown chakra,
  • Meditation music or relaxing sounds to help block out outside noise and help you unwind and refocus your energy to the task at hand. Or if silence or rock music is what helps you focus, than by all means I have created some very amazing wishes and intentions with Led Zeppelin playing in the background
  • Hot chocolate for  brain fuel (Because the brain can not store energy, it needs a continuous supply of fuel. As our brains consume 60 percent, or about 450 calories each day of the sugar coursing through our bloodstreams, that’s a justifiable couple of hot chocolates and a candy bar worth of energy)

Traditional ritual Supplies for the old school folks:

  • smudge sticks (Cleanse your sacred area with an opening prayer, a sage smudging)
  • incense 
  • meditation music
  • Crystal grid and/or alter with objects you find sacred or embody physically the goals you would like to achieve.

Here we go….

  • Light one or more candles, maybe create a crystal grid and/or alter with objects you find sacred, or embody physically the goals you would like to achieve like a picture of your camera to help you master photography, a clip of a place you want to visit, a picture of the body you want to achieve  ( through the intention of ercercise and diet trudst me there isnt a magic sure for weightloss).
  • Center your being and calm yourself in whatever way is appropriate for you. Take some deep cleansing breaths, turn on your meditation music to listen to, and/or leisurely sip on a cup of relaxing hot chocolate or herbal tea.
  • Relax, take it slow and let the wish and intentions flow
  • write in detail on what you would like to manifest ( it makes it easier to feel like you already have this when you can see it unfolding in your head in detail.)
  • Once you have finished writing your list, i what you want to manifest in your life remember that its very important to feel like these items are already yours, feel the emotion behind having them.. Happiness , joy, gratitude, motivated, empowerment, hope  and love.
  • It is essential that you keep your thoughts positive as this rises your vibrations. The universe responds to your vibrations like a magnet so happy, pleasant positive emotions carry high vibrations, so the universe will respond by giving you high vibrations gifts in return. Say if you want to attract wealth ,you think positive thoughts about money ( even if you don’t have much) and you focus on what you have not on what you don’t have. Same if you constantly give off low vibrations such as anger, impatience, worry, insecurity, blame and any other  negative thinking you will attract situations and people that reflect those vibrations, for example when something doesn’t work out and get mad and state ” nothing good every happens to me, or  im always the one who gets picked last, no one cares about me, im always get walked over by people, i hate the world” Emotional statements these (especially when you are mad, because you have so much powerful emotion behind saying them) tells the universe thats what yo want and that what you expect so it matches your vibrations. Understand?
  • Now this part is important, once you have set your new moon intentions and read over them, you must not over think or stress how they will come to you, no demanding ” why haven’t’ i got my new bike yet”, you need to trust the universe divine timing , if its meant to be it will be, and if you don’t get what you wished for, maybe it was not the right time for you to have it, I know it took me a few months of wishing for a new bike before one day i got to work and my boss had this cute white bicycle sitting in my office , he said he just bought it for his wife and she went for one rife on it and didn’t like cycling and he thought the bike suited me and how much i would enjoy cycling to work instead of waling each day….
  • When you do get to experience that magical feeling of crossing off an item off your list don’ forget to thank the universe for bringing it to you, after all the power of gratitude excels your power of manifestation

It should be noted, to keep in mind that our words and thoughts are vibrations, wether our words or thoughts are created subconsciously in positive or negative manor, so any intentions imagined, stated or written down carry power. So take care to really manifest exactly what you would like, by feeling that vibration. The saying “Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.” rings true here. And remember.. you are not to manifest anything regarding the free will of another person. So you can’t ask the universe to bring you a certain person, as the another person is involved has their own intentions you cannot control what he/she will do, and you cannot ask the universe to force someone to feel or act a certain way about you. So no trying to ask the universe to make Zac Effron to fall madly in love with you…. SIGH

BALSAMIC MOON IN CANCER

Today’s Planets: Moon in Cancer, Venus trine Uranus, Sun trine Saturn

The Moon is Waning phase  until the New Moon in Leo on August 2nd.  Now is a really important time for you to get clear on your intentions and New Moon wishes you want to manifest in your life under the New Moon tomorrow. The Moon continues its transit of Cancer until 9:12 PM EDT, when it enters Leo.

Remember in the Balsamic or Waning Moon phase is a period that is generally considered unfavourable for new beginning. So wait until the New Moon to set your intentions.

Today August 1st the Sun forms a trine to Saturn today. This energy influence makes us  feel grounded and stable. We are more able to tune out distractions and concentrate on what actually matters, and not focusing on the many distractions we have been letting control us in our daily lives .

It is the day before the New Moon so don’t be surprised if some of us are  feeling a tad out of sort, the pre New Moon energy can be rather mystifying and sometimes plain weird. Today we’re better off tying up loose ends now before  beginning something brand new ( our New Moon manifestations ) . Use this Saturn/Sun energy to face reality, feel stronger  and be a little more stern in our thoughts and task at hand.

The Sun in minor challenging aspect to Chiron as well, we may shy away from a full commitment making productivity slow but it will be steady.

MOON IN SCORPIO

Today Mercury the planet of communication and thought process , moves into the proud sign of Leo. This means there is an edge to all our communications. We are all a tad more proud, a tad more likely to  overstate our feelings or promise more than we can deliver, and the tendency to overdo is strong.

Do use the Leo / Mercury vibe to speak up for yourself and try not to point out any arrogance you may have towards others. 

Venus semi-square Jupiter July 14. We may  experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive at times today. Today we might take great strides to get noticed especially with the Mercury moving into Leo.  Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in any  personal relationships, as they likely won’t get resolved under this planetary influence. Today has been very interesting, I woke up and before I pulled the daily card I came across two pictures of Athena. Coincidence? Than I got to work and had a heavenly feather as I opened up my handbag. Today use the energy of the Goddess Athena in all thoughts and actions and see how well your day works out.

Today marks the beginning of the 29.5 day Moon cycle, as we are having a New Moon in Cancer today  July 4th, 2016 .New Moons are a new wave of energy  that happens when the   Sun and Moon meet at the exact same point of the zodiac ( being Cancer this month)

As a Cancerian myself this is a very exciting month for me, a month of love, birthdays, happiness and today a chance to dream up big and manifest.

This Cancer New Moon offers us a chance to rebirth our emotional body. What do you desire to feel about yourself and your life? What Cancerians traits would you like to manifest and invite into your world?

Cancer is the sign of the Mother,Carer, Nurturer. Cancer symbolizes the womb of Life. I can promise you, this moon will be a big one. ..

This month we will experience a powerful Full Moon in Scorpio on April 22, 2016. This supercharged Full Moon will amplify our desires. Scorpio is a passionate sign, in everything it touches, self, relationships, work and play and this energy sets the stage for meaningful personal transformation this Full Moon.

Scorpio’s are intense and feel things deeply. So prepare for a Full Moon of extremes. Full Moons often leave us supercharged, some of us have intense dreams, some of us can’t sleep at all, some may have extra energy or become flat, and if you are anything like me you become super sensitive in more ways than one…Even if you don’t follow astrology one can’t deny that energy is charged up and you at one point in your life you have felt different when a Full Moon approaches.

The passionate, dramatic intense waters of Scorpio seem to be in direct opposition to our practical drive to survive this Full Moon and this can cause tension between our inner and outer worlds, causing some of us to reach a breaking point. Have you felt the pull and push of late?

Full Moons are like axis that balance’s the energy between the Moon and the Sun, the balance of the yin and the yang, our job during this period is find a balance whilst everything is at it’s fullest extreme. Don’t Take Anything for Granted

Don’t Take Anything for Granted

” We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude”

We ignore so much of the goodness in our life, and  we tend to only miss this goodness when it is gone. What do you take for granted? I can tell you what I often take for granted. I take for granted my eyes, my eyes which give me vision to see the faces of my loves ones, all the colours of the rainbow, all the wonders that this world has to offer me

By being thankful for what you do have. When we tend to focus on what we want or where we want to be, we neglect that we have, exactly as it is. What if one day it was all to disappear?  how much DO you take for granted your life, big or small. For example; the only time I would not take my body for granted was when it was sick, or you only appreciate the fact you  have  washing machine was when it broke down. Or when you don’t have toilet paper???

By nourishing and being grateful for what you have already, you transform your perspective on life. By investing time by focusing on, and appreciating what we have brings about gratitude. Gratitude leads us to stop focusing on the things that are lacking in our life to all the abundance that already exists.

Mindfulness Tips & Facts

Anyone can practice mindfulness but it might take a bit of practice. At first you might find it hard to stop your mind from wandering. Here are sum fun facts to help you distract your mind, and help you refocus your mind.

So what is this thing called mindfulness? Below are some definitions:

  • The awareness that emerges through paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally to the unfolding of experience moment to moment (Kabat-Zinn, 2003).
  • The non-judgmental observation of the ongoing stream of internal and external stimuli as they arise (Baer, 2003).
  • Keeping one’s complete attention to the experience on a moment to moment basis (Martlett & Kristeller, 1999).

Medically speaking..

After 8 weeks of practicing mindfulness exercises for an an average of 27 minutes per day, MRI scans of participants showed that mindfulness:

  • stimulated a significant increase in the density of gray matter in the hippocampus, important for learning and memory;
  • increased the density of gray matter in other neural structures associated with self-awareness, compassion and introspection;
  • decreased the density of gray matter in the amygdala – the part of the brain associated with anxiety and stress.

According to Harvard University, Studies have shown that mindfulness can:

  • relieves stress
  • relieves depression
  • relieves anxiety
  • lowers blood pressure
  • improve chronic pain
  • improve sleep
  • improves capacity to deal with stress
  • improves ability to form deeper connections with others.
  • Mindfulness has also been found to boost immune function.

What is an intention?

Intentions can long term or short term process of manifesting a goal or achievement, it is a guiding principle for how you want to be, live, and show up in the world.

Why set an intention?

Setting an intention triggers the first step in the process of manifestation in order to achieve an accomplishment. it is a powerful practice because it’s the first step to embodying that which you want.

Wayne Dyer said, “Our intention creates our reality.” And how many times have you heard “What you think, you become,” or “Thoughts become things”?

How do I set an intention and stay on track?

Here are some of the tips which I think can help us set intentions and achieve them.

Make a firm decision ~

Set your intention firmly. Identify what you want. Pledge to make a change in your lifestyle.Your intention should be closely tied to your personal thoughts, values and perspective on life.

Identify your priorities~

Your intentions should be cohesive with your vision of yourself ahead of time. Learn to identify where you are in the present moment and what coincides with the lifestyle you want. your intentions can be a clear and specific wish, or could be  as simple as a word or phrase you’d like to align yourself with, such as “i will have more compassion for myself and others”, or “i will open your mind and heart,” ” i will love myself more” Etc..

Here are some thought-starters to help you get started in forming an intention~

  • What would you like to build, create, or nurture in your life?
  • What would you like to let go of?
  • How do you feel when you are your happiest self?
  • What fears would you like to release?
  • What are you grateful for?
  • Who would you like to forgive in your life?

Write them down or  create a vision board~

An effective way of visualizing your intention is to write it down or create a vision board with newspaper or magazine clippings which can remind you every day. like place you want to visit, items you will save up and purchases, the healthy dream body you want to achieve , how you want to decorate your home,What matters most to you?

Once you have written them down, take a step back and review your intention. Are they realistic? Or are you committing to something that won’t align well with the lifestyle you lead?  also you must revisit it often and when needed

Make an action plan
Set a plan that is cohesive to your life style. There could be more than one method or pathway to arrive at your destination. Decide on a plan to achieve that suits you.

Track your progress
 ~

This is important to determine if you are headed in the right direction with your intention. If not, sit back and re-evaluate. If something isn’t working you have the power to tweak your action plan.

Involve others, 
It is always good to involve others to hold yourself accountable. Tell anyone and everyone. It will help boost your motivation.

Welcome failure & Celebrate your wins ~

Don’t give up because of obstacles. There could be many paths leading to the same destination. Try out different methods. Learn and be patient. 
Failure is an important part of the entire process. Welcome it. Learn from it. Intentions can sometimes deviate from the original plan and that is OK! So persist
.

and remember…

Celebrate your wins. Even small achievements. The loss of 2 lbs, Your boss praising you,   or that promotion.  You are one step closer.

Don’t lose sight! 
Stay focused on the end result and  don’t get distracted by the time it takes or obstacles that may block our path.
