November Super Moon 2016

On Monday 14/11/16 we will get a chance to experience a once in a lifetime (or maybe twice for some of us) event. Sure most of us have witnessed amazing Moons and Super Moons but next week the Full Moon will be the closet to Earth than any other since 1948! This Full Moon in Taurus is known as “perigree moon” It’s a fancy scientific term for ” The Moons closet point to Earth on its orbit”  but for us mere Moon Children it means the Moon is going to extra bright, extra-large and more jaw dropping than ever!

Whilst Super Moons have been shown to affect the tides, it also has the power to affect us humans here on Earth ( no surprise as we are made up of 70% water). Super Moons are supercharged and have the profound ability to amplify our emotional, physical and mental state! Our energetic bodies are effected differently all depending on your own individual astrological charts. Full Moons have the power to heighten our energy and emotions, amplify our intuition, disrupt our normal sleep patterns (either over sleeping or not at all).

So what else does this mean ? Expect synchronicities, lucid dreams, ecstatic irrational emotional burst, sensitivity to the energy of people, places and animals.

Traditionally Full Moons are a time for releasing ,they are a time for closure, for letting go of what no longer serves a purpose your life, Full Moons are a time for finales. Take a look back over the last month or so.. is there something or someone who needs healing and letting go of? Change is certain, things pass away and new things come into existence.

This amazing Supermoon in Taurus will be very positive and practical! This Full Moon will provide us with an understanding of the physical and practical side of your life, like your career , health, relationships, money and the everyday day things that we all experience . This Supermoon provides us with a great insight into these areas of our lives and we can align our energy too really experience change!

Taurus is the most practical earth sign of the zodiac. It’s the bull, and the bull energy is interested in maintaining the status quo, security, is a much grounded energy. Taurus admires and adores beautiful things, luxury, money and well good food and eating. Taurus love connection with other people along with  physical health, and well all of the things that involve planet earth. With the illumination of the Supermoon these Taurus qualities will be shining down onto us.

If anything in your life to do with those areas that you are not satisfied with, this  is the time for change! Use this powerful energy for closure, resolve the issues that are outstanding, get busy, get practical, sort things out! Do the work and get things sorted.Work on the mundane things of life that can bring you inner peace, joy and satisfactions, making your life for the better.

With your physical health, look inwards, what isn’t working for you?? Get in line with your body, listen to your body, what is it saying? what are you putting into your body that (much to your dismay) is not agreeing with you? It is the time for change! Cut those carbs, start eating breakfast, get up and walk on your lunch break , small changes can have the biggest impact!

If you are feeling up in the air with this intense energy floating around, the best way to balance is to ground yourself. This can achieved by walking bare foot on the ground, put your feet in the sand, take a hike in nature, swim in the ocean or  in a lake. If you are into connecting with Crystals hold them, surround yourself , meditate, find what helps sooth and ground you and work with that.

Good Morning.. Well today we see a huge comic event happening, Mars in Capricorn conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn. This powerful aspect is the only time it will happen all year ( As it happens approximately once every two years). Mars is the solider, the War God, it’s about desire and is the archetype of male energy. Capricorn which is all about grounded work energy ,its hardcore, it’s all about getting things done. So Mars the Male warrior likes this Capricorn energy..  it’s an alive and driven energy . Strength and firm! We can experience strong desires to take action today! However… This energy has the potential to make us compulsive and lock into power struggles with others. Our anger could heat up without warning and can drive our actions in the wrong direction. We have the tendency to ignore reason and become impatient and pushy. On the plus side we can enjoy the benefits of a sense of purposefulness, drive to make our world better and the strength to conquer the world no matter how big or small the task may be.

Pluto is about transformation, death and rebirth and in Capricorn it again has to do with transforming the real world, your world. It’s a very masculine energy when it is in this sign. You see what you desire and you build towards it, like a developer seeing a block of land and building a home you see the potential for  transformation and change.  When Mars/ Pluto in Capricorn come together there is huge ambition and determination to achieve long-term goals and to transform your life as it is. This aspect can be tense as we find it hard to read the intention behind others words today and how they are communicated. It also can bring up deep wounds and old hurts by others. Maybe something was said once to you that cut you deep, hurt your feelings and you never got the chance to tell them how much it bothered you.. well now is your chance to face up to inner truths and let them know. Mercury/Chiron aspects can be great for healing communication and sharing our deepest feelings so try to use the energy today for good.

Today’s energies are on the complicated side but don’t stress if your life has been a little up and down over the past few days you will be glad to hear it’s getting back to being in balance. Well, relatively speaking. This morning, the Sun in Libra quincunxes  Chiron in Pisces. This stimulates some self-doubt and tension between the conscious self and ego. Chiron the wounded healer can point out certain personal struggles that we may not be facing up to but with the Moon in Aires inspiring us to look forward instead of behind us, reaching our goals and facing critical issues can be on the cards.

Mercury in Libra sextiles Saturn in Sagittarius! This is great for getting organised and ticking boxes! We are capable of making sound decisions and this Mercury/Saturn connection makes it a great day for grounded and beneficial communication with others. The energy  around also helps us ground our minds, with the help of Libra to balance our thoughts and Sagittarius to bring about truth and lessons, we are able to think before we speak and come from a mature place in our dealing with others! Mercury in Libra quincunxes the south node in Pisces.This aspects can create tension and friction between our mind and intellect and our karmic past. The South Node traditional is about our past karmic lessons, lessons that some are denying or refusing to acknowledge and is holding them back from evolving on a soul level. South Node in Pisces triggers us to live in our shadow side, live in denial, delusion and avoidance of reality! The shadow side also includes us disconnecting from the body and reality, along with spiritual bypassing and refusing to see the truth in matters. Mercury  quincunxes the South Node gentle reminds us to be careful in how we perceive things, how we think and how we speak. Avoiding any quick and hard decisions is the key right now. Retrieve if you can and take some time out, meditate or spend time alone to figure the truth about yourself and the world around you, remove the rose-coloured glasses and delve deep inwards to find the truth of matters

 

 

The Gibbous Moon is in Pisces all day ! A typically easygoing,soft, gentle, flowing influence! But with the Mercury/Mars clash could heat things up today. It does not help that  Gibbous Moon is an already intense period, but to add to it all we are nearly at the Full Moon and things are going to start to get more and more heated!

Mercury in Libra squares Mars in Capricorn. Ouch some may feel the sting between the planet of communication and thoughts and Mars the planet God of War , action, aggression and survival energy! This clash has the potential to create tension and friction within our self and others. We can feel extra sassy ,fiery and some what aggressive today and we should watch out in dealings with others and with internal struggles with our conscious mind and our intellect as this powerful Mars energy is in the atmosphere!!! Navigate our communications with care is the key today, avoid mental aggression, don’t be so quick to snap and look out for the potential of arguments to start. Today be direct without being pushy, be clear and tactful in your actions the way you speak with others and your intentions. On a Positive note, this influence can light a fire under us for taking care of problem areas that we may not usually have courage to deal with.

The Moon moves into Pisces today! We see the Moon go from the lovely air sign of Aquarius into a water sign of Pisces, which means there is a shift from mental thoughts to emotional depth! The Moon also conjuncts Neptune in Pisces,(Ah the water planet in a water sign ) and quincunx Jupiter and Mercury in Libra . The ability to articulate and communicate is very good again today with Mercury / Jupiter in Libra, but with Pisces energy very high today so are our emotions! We are very intuitive and very creative. Today is great day to articulate your hopes and dreams and talk to others about how you are feeling about the future and what you would like to happen. Today is a day that we are feeling highly inspired, we can write a short story or a poem due to our ability to tap into our emotional side! We are able to delve deep into our emotions and sub conscious, and if you usually feel awkward or uneasy about tapping in and expressing your emotional side, today is the day you will comfortable doing it!

Mercury in Libra quincunxes Neptune in Pisces which is great for creativity and dreams but it can blur the reality between truth and reality and fantasy, as Neptune is the planet that rules illusions, intuition and psychic energy and can make it easy for us to see what we want to see , ignore the truth and listen to the voice (ego) within and believe our own lies. Today some of us may have the tendency to daydream and possibly at the expense of our productivity and clear communication. Lets just say it’s not the best day for us to see matters clearly.

There is a quincunx between Venus and Uranus early today.Venus wants connection and intimacy were as Uranus wants freedom and to rebel . This can mean some will have difficulties in decisions regarding love and money.Some may face a challenge whether they are ready to get close to someone or are you willing to maintain certain relationships that you feel are stuck! Some may feel they are loosing their independence and want to cut ties! Venus / Uranus  aspect can bring disruptive energies into relationships but on the brighter side it  can also bring things to Light that may need  healing  or clearing out, ready to fully letting go.

The New Moon is in Libra!

This New Moon cycle in Libra brings fresh and creative energy into our lives, and more specifically, into our relationships. This would be one of the more auspicious lunar cycle as the Libra New Moon is conjunct with Jupiter ( who is also in the sign of Libra). So the planet of good luck, fortune and expansion is in the sign of Libra who is ruled by Venus the goddess of love and abundance along with this New Moon also in lovely Libra can only mean positivity and expansion is set to unfold in our personal and profession relationships!! So gang, today put some time aside and set your intentions about what you want to bring into your life. Especially in regards to romance, relationships, beauty , abundance, balance and harmony!

New Moons are a great time when, whether you want more of the same or you want to change something in your life altogether. Use the New Moon energy to positively get clear about your hopes and dreams and plant seeds of intention.

Feed your Solar Plexus

“Open your Solar Plexus Chakra and embrace your core self!”  One way of healing and balancing your solar plexus is by your daily diet.

  

Get in touch with your hunger gauge:

Often, we lose sight of our innate sense of physical hunger and responding to our bodies’ physical cues to eat. Often we can confuse what drives us to eat, like emotional hunger  with actual hunger. At times we may under or over eat or forget to eat at all without even realizing it. Be reconnecting with yourself and your internal power of the Solar plexus you can tap into the internal rhythm to eat, and eating regularly. So before stuffing into that delicious burrito at mid morning snack rate your hunger, write a food journal she how full you feel after each meal you have, look for patterns in your diet, document what types of food you have and how long they sustain your energy for.  If you find yourself “stuffed” after a meal, you may have inundated your solar plexus and not to mention your digestive system and can  place an additional burden on it to process. Aim for about 80% fullness, and if you can try some light exercise to help get the blood flow moving along with your solar plexus.

Schedule regular eating times:

You may want to start by first creating a regular eating schedule. Some people benefit from 3 square meals a day and some people from 4-6 small meals a day, scheduling regular eating times helps retrain yourself to get in touch with your eating patterns. having 3 big meals ( 300 – 450  calories ) with 2 small snacks ( 100 – 150 calories) helps us to maintain our blood sugar, and therefore, gives more energy. this said it depends on your nutritional needs, weather you are active, wanting to loose weight or gain it,  6 foot tall or require special diet requirements, seek a profession for advice when calculating how many calories you need,and never drop below basil metabolic rate.Feeding yourself more regularly will ensure that you have the fuel you need to keep going without succumbing to cravings or dips in energy.

Carbohydrates:

The three lower chakras connect to the energy of the trio of macronutrients , with the solar plexus resonating with carbohydrates, the sacral chakra flows with fats and the root chakra anchoring  proteins. The key to balancing this chakra is with the right amount  and right carbohydrates, such as wholegrain breads,  brown rice and pasta. See whole grain foods rather than  processed foods have not been stripped of essential nutrients our body needs they also have a lower GI and don’t spike our blood glucose levels , giving us a high than a crashing feeling after we eat. Whilst choosing the right carbohydrate, the fiber content of the product is very important marker of how much sustained energy the product will provide, If a food is high in fiber, you will receive adequate amounts of energy over time and if it is to low in fiber and high in simple sugars, your energy will be erratic , as i mentioned before your energy will initially  be very high but then it will plummet. So remember if you eat too little carbohydrates we do not equip the solar plexus with the energy it needs to have momentum and direction and if we have to many carbs we bombard and tax our solar plexus .

Yellow coloured Foods:

To achieve and maintain a A healthy, high vibrational solar plexus, this chakra vibrates at a frequency similar to the colour yellow. Therefore, yellow foods provide the vibrational rate needed to help balance this chakra. Examples include lemons, yellow bell pepper and fresh corn . Bananas, sunflower seeds, pumpkin, dairy such as cheese and yogurt, turmeric, cumin, bread, pasta ( wholegrain of course) , flax and ginger. 

Tips to remember –

  • Get in touch with hunger. Most people don’t really know what hunger feels like
  • Rate your hunger before and after eating to tap into how well you are maintaining your fuel reserves.
  • Know when to start and stop eating.
  • Don’t stuff yourself. You know that saying ‘full as a goog’? You do not want to be that
  • Know which foods give you energy and also know which foods drain your energy away
  • Eat regularly according to your body’s needs, NOT the clock on the wall.
  • Aim for about 80% fullness
  • The goal for a healthy solar plexus chakra is to eat foods that are balanced so that you can be balanced – for example, fruits, nuts, whole grains, legumes, and vegetables.
  • Yellow foods usually contain relatively high levels of plant compounds antioxidants like lutein which protects cells against an attack from the effects of too much energy in the body and overactive metabolism.
  • Include in your diet yellow coloured foods such as – Lemons, yellow capsicum,  fresh corn ,Bananas, mints- peppermint spearmint , sunflower seeds, pumpkin, dairy such as cheese and yogurt, turmeric, cumin, bread, pasta ( wholegrain of course) , flax and ginger.

Read below for a simple home made recipe for roast vegetable that helps detox and boost your solar plexus.

 

 

you will need ~

2  sweet potato’s

1 pumpkin of your choice

2 – 4 carrots

3 big dashes of olive oil

Rosemary ( to taste)

Oregano ( to taste )

Himalayan salt ( to taste)

large baking pan

Preheat oven to 200o celicas

Roughly chop veggies approximately the same size, spread evenly onto a greased baking tray. Lightly drizzle olive oil to coat veggies, sprinkle rosemary,. oregano and salt  to your taste. Bake veggies for 40 minutes, take tray carefully out of the oven flip veggies over , reseason if required and place back inot the oven until they are golden brown and cook to your liking, me well i love them crispy!!

Solar Plexus Chakra

This is the one chakra I have to constantly balance and re-balance in order to keep it open. people like me who struggle with balancing their solar plexus tend to struggle between feeling very powerful and self-assured to feeling worthless and hesitant.

If you repeatedly suffer from any of these conditions, then it is likely your solar plexus is un balanced, so let me give you a quick rundown of the solar plexus chakra and what it affects and how you can rebalance it.

The third Chakra or the solar plexus chakra, is located between the navel and the region of the stomach just in the seat of your gut. As with the other chakras, it extends out in front of you, and behind you. It is bright and glows yellow like the sun.  As is synonymous with the core of your being, the gift of this chakra is sensing and connecting you with your will power, your ego, self-confidence, esteem, self-worth, it is the centre of your personal power and autonomy.  It is from your solar plexus that you find the confidence, strength, and motivation to manifest your goals, your dreams, and your desires

The purpose of this chakra is to allows you to meet challenges and move forward in your life. The main challenge for the third chakra is to use your personal power in a balanced manner.

Physical Symptoms of a Solar-plexus imbalance –

The solar plexus is responsible for maintaining complete function of your digestive system , digestive organs, enzymes, hormones, and physiological processes included.  On the physical level, the solar plexus chakra is associated with the digestive system such as Poor digestion, weight problems, anorexia, bulimia. Other organs that are affected are the  liver, pancreas, kidney and gallbladder. people tend to suffer from acute or chronic  ulcers, arthritis and hepatitis. as it affects the pancreas, temporary short or long term episodes of hypoglycaemia or hyperglycaemia (diabetes )can occur. Solar plexus imbalances can also cause  intestinal tumours and colon disease.

Balanced Solar plexus –

When this Chakra is in balance you will be in complete control over your emotions and thoughts. you will be able to reflect and have the ability to move forward in life with confidence and power. When balanced you will have the ability to make conscious choices to choose and to act, Your ego mind, or small mind will have no unwanted influence over your actions. When in tune, your Solar-plexus will radiate warmth, joy and confidence through-out your entire being. you will shine and glow and influence others who come in contact with you. You will know without a doubt, and accept your place in the Universe ,

 Overactive Solar plexus –

If your chakra is over-active you may react to life circumstances, be judgemental or find it critically easy to blame, point fingers and find fault in others. Beings with excessive third chakra energy have emotional outbursts and are often stressed out, and can be very rigid or stubborn. Anger or aggressiveness result from an over-active chakra. Procrastinating, making grand plans and not following through and becoming obsessive in regards to work or interests You may also be a perfectionist and can’t settle on something that is already good enough, it always has to be better.

 Under active Solar plexus –

If this chakra is under active it can cause severe emotional problems. You may also run on “auto pilot” avoiding your feelings of depression or anxiety. memory blanks, seclusion and isolation. Under active solar plexus tends to make people feel afraid and alone, suffering from mistrust and doubt. Being stuck, viewing life from the inside and not being able to see out or the bigger picture .People will suffer from low self-esteem, addiction, lack of self-control and will over eat or not eat at all and have the inability to set or maintain boundaries.

If you feel you’d benefit from clearing your solar plexus chakra, there are many practical, every-day things that you can do. Here are a few ideas

1.Yoga, the best solar plexus chakra yoga poses are those that strengthen your core and help you to feel more powerful and confident. Step into the Warrior I pose to access your inner spiritual warrior or go deeper with courage into the Bow pose. Continue into part 2 yoga poses, such as Boat pose or Lion’s pose.

2.Diet, Eating foods rich in yellow earthy colours. A healthy solar plexus chakra vibrates at a frequency similar to the colour yellow. Therefore, yellow foods provide the vibrational rate needed to help balance this chakra. Bananas, sunflower seeds, pumpkin, dairy such as cheese and yoghurt, turmeric, cumin, bread, pasta ( wholegrain of course) , flax and ginger

 

3.Essential oils embody the properties of the plant they were extracted from. These properties work on all four levels of our being: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The following are the most commonly used solar plexus chakra essential oils: rosemary, mandarin, lavender, clary sage, patchouli, camomile.

4.Repeat an affirmation such as: I am confident in all that I do. I am successful. I effectively manifest the deep desires of my soul. I am capable. I can do it. My needs are important.  I release my creative energy into reality.  I can solve any problem that comes up. I respect myself.  I stand up for myself and what I believe in.

5. Healing practitioner – Working with a Reiki practitioner or other energy healer can be a good way to start your healing journey. They will be able to help break up the blockage and can help locate other blockages or imbalances in your energy.

6. At home, meditation is the most effective way to break up a blockage. Everyone possesses healing energy, and you can harness it using visualization

7. Crystal therapy – Jasper, malachite, citrine, yellow tourmaline, rhodochrosite

8. The solar plexus is associated with the colour yellow so picturing a yellow sunflower or glow bright sun where the chakra is located can have an instant affect. Surround yourself with the colour yellow, light yellow candles, wear yellow, vision yellow surround you and everywhere you go.

Alkaline Vs Acidic Foods

 

If anyone reading this is like me and has over indulged over the past few weeks for the silly season and Christmas, you may be feeling (besides very guilty) bloated, lethargic and ” heavy”. Than its time to join me on a mini detox, to help with the sluggish metabolism and digestion. Now if you have been hearing all about this “ alkaline diet” in all the gossip mags, or possibly overheard girls in the tea room at lunch talking about this new “Fad diet” im going to give you a little run down on the basics and why its good for detoxing or making it a new permanent way of eating.

So, what’s the theory?

The theory is that the Ph balances within our body influences whether our bodies host a disease or helps fight off disease. A high acid diet can creates a breeding ground for disease, which can lead to poor health and chronic disease. If you, like me are gaining weight, craving carbs and sugar, wake up or frequently have a foggy brain than you are running too acidic.

The Run Down

This diet makes the body less susceptible to inflammation and disease whilst promoting increased energy, weight loss, stomach upsets indigestion and fights fatigue. It’s recommended that if you consume alkaline foods 80% of the time it can transform your life.

Acidic Vs Alkaline Foods

  • Foods that cause excess acidity include Meat, Dairy, Sugar, poultry, fish, eggs, grains, alcohol and flower ( All my favourite foods).
  • Alkaline foods consist of Vegetables, Fruits, Legumes , Nuts.

When talking about the alkaline diet, it is important to understand the meaning of the pH value. So as nurses ill give you a quick cheat sheet on what ph is. The pH value in the body ranges from 0 to 14

  • 0-7 is acidic. (Think of the acid in the stomach that brakes foods down)
  • 7 is neutral.
  • 7-14 is alkaline (your blood is more alkaline sitting around 7.35)

Now im keeping this simple because I am only taking on components if this diet to detox myself off the Christmas treats I have been scoffing down as of late. Examples of Alkalising Vegetables: Broccoli, Cauliflower, Celery, Cucumber, Kale, Lettuce, Onions, Peas, beans, sweet potato, Peppers, and Spinach, carrots and garlic.

Examples of Alkalising Fruits: Apple, Banana, Berries, rockmelon, Grapes, Melon, Lemon, Orange, Peach, Pear, Watermelon, pineapple and mango.

Alkalising Protein: Almonds, Chestnuts, cashews, and Tofu.

Ready steady…. and juice

As of this week, im starting each morning with a smoothie made with fruits and veggies on the allowed list. Today I mixed up in my nutribullet, Blueberries, watermelon, pineapple, celery, pear, apple and carrot and let me tell you I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of this earlier. It was so refreshing especially in this heat wave (Temperature already reaching 28o at 6 am) I couldn’t of started eating healthier at a better time.

Lunch time I had roasted sweat potato, garlic, carrot and broccoli

And for dinner I had zucchini pasta ( yes made with a red wine and garlic pasta sauce) with a side of cauliflower mash.

Its only been 3 days and I can tell you I already feel lighter, my stomach no longer looks like Uncle Francis beer gut and I found im getting my spring in my step. You don’t have to completely change your lifestyle, I still sit at star bucks before work each morning with my sugar free vanilla latte and read my book, but im choosing not to add my buttery raisin toast to add with it, and now I make a conscious choice when I grab for snacks also when I go food shopping.

However, you might want to consider some of these extra tips to get you back on track while detoxing.

Here we go….

Hydration

Everything is influenced by the quantity of the water you drink. Getting adequately hydrated will make a huge difference to your health, immunity, energy and vitality. So gulp up, flush those Christmas puddings out! Aim for 6 to 14 cups a day, remember not to overdo it, listen to your body and never force it!

Transition

Take it slowly! It is far better to transition and get there slowly, by sticking to it for the long-term rather than being perfect for a day or two and then crashing (which is what I normally do eek)

Supplements.

Supplements are another effective way to assist your body in returning to its healthful state, Supplements are great at replacing lost nutrients with vitamins and minerals to give your immune system a boost.
